Career and Identity | The Powell Buehler Group
My career is what I do. It doesn’t define who I am.
It has shaped me in many ways, but the successes and failures that come from my job do not define me.
When I tie my identity to my job title I set myself up for failure. We’ll always have high highs and low lows. Learning how to separate who you are from what you do is a beautiful thing.
I constantly have to remind myself of this. Selling or not selling one more house does not add or take away from who I am.
Achievements will come and go. Do we really want to ride those waves? Attaching ourselves to our accomplishments? Constantly having to prove?
I’m putting that heavy burden down. What I do does not define who I am. Who’s with me?!
